Impact by Design

Imagining new futures, intentionally planning for them, and then adapting the plan as more information is revealed is a form of responsible research. The loop demonstrates our commitment to speculating about what is possible, responding to what is emerging and learning from the predicted and unforeseen aspects of our research practice.

Co-evolving the problem and the solution make this looping inquiry possible. The co-evolution works on multiple levels. The inner loop braids engagement activities with an evaluation mindset. The exterior loop calls for a research practice of insight gathering that knits together evidence from multiple sources so the research resonates with multiple constituents. Together the loops allow assumptions to be tested, patterns to surface, anomalies to be explored and meaningful insights to cohere, evolve and take shape.
